The Halloween Tree

Who doesn't love classics? I combined my love of "The Halloween Tree" and "Yu-Gi-Oh! Waking the Dragons" to bring you this spectacular piece.

And for some stuff about each character.

Mai-She represents Jenny the Witch. The biggest problem I had was how to represent a young version of her...until it hit me. She wouldn't probably be as flirtatious as she was when she was younger, so i placed her as someone who's insecure (that and part of her hair is based on Serenity)

Mikey-Representing Ralph the Mummy, he was one of my favorite characters to design as he represents the younger and innocent people (even though in the anime he's killed off...or if you watch 4Kids he's captured). I loved coloring his bandages and his frightened look is cute!

Alister-He's Tom the Skeleton and the leader of this group. He was definetly my favorite to design and color. Like in the movie Tom wanted to lead the group instead of best friend Pip, and Alister constantly fights with Valon so it fit. I liked the interesting idea of using a glow-in-the-dark green for the skeleton...the mask was just a touch on (and so was his shocked look)

Raphael-represents Wally the monster. He gave me the hardest time as I couldn't decide on hair style (Spiky or flowing) and his eyes were so hard to imagine (he's usually sulking or frowning or just pissed). His costume has a simple cape because making a mask would make it hard for me to see him, and yes his hands are purposefully deformed.

Valon-He's Pip and his blue skin represents Pip's condition in the movie (that he's dying). Half of his face is obscured to represent that part of him is fading away and also is like a faceless moon.

Dartz-Ah yes, Moundshroud himself. What annoyed me the most was his hair...but that eventually was fixed. I think I screwed up on the hand though. I didn't want to overcomplicate his outfit, so I just gave him his usual white cloak and grey cape.

All in all, it took me two days to sketch on paper, then scan it, and then two days lining, coloring and erasing with a mouse. It was my first time doing something like this though, so I hope it works out.

Well, that's it...now I need to get some ice for my poor hand. X(.
