Prologue-The Trip Ahead of themselves

"It was the Day of the Dead!
Did you just what I said?
Oh-oh-oh!
I didn't even know
It was the Day of the Dead
I tried not to lose my head
Oh-oh-oh!
Way down in Mexico"
-Voltaire, Day of the Dead

While America settles on trick-or-treating for Halloween, Mexico kicks it up a notch.

From October 31st to November 2nd, this celebration is a party to communicate with the dead and to feast that people were lucky to be alive. Children would dine on cookies and bread in cute shapes, while adults would write poems and place food onto the graves of their beloved ones. There were candy skulls and piñatas with sweets for everyone, and candles to light the passages home.

November 1st was dedicated to the souls of young children. November 2nd was for the adults. They were all treated the same, with people staying and having picnic at their graves. The living would talk to them and have a beautiful time with the whole festivities.

However, Mexico is never about fun and games all the times. Sometimes, there are things that need to be done. Who do you call when you're in trouble?

You call on the men named John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr...

"So, where are we heading off to again?" asked Ringo, stifling a yawn.

"Mexico." John replied, seeing the brochure in hand. It was 5 AM in the Beatles abode when they were given a rude awakening by Lovely Rita. Having successfully stopped a giant weapons smuggling ring for their first operation of field work, the Fab Four were given a well deserved break. It was quiet for the next five weeks...before now.

"These guys are having a festival for the dead." said Paul. "El Dia de los Muertos; it sounds interesting, if you ask me."

"Beaches, music, sweets…." George added. "I'd like to see how the people accept the Beatles."

"We're known everywhere around the world, George." said John. "I wouldn't be so surprised to see the people singing our songs in Spanish."

"What's going down in Mexico anyway?" asked Paul.

"They're giving us a paid vacation." John explained. "Good thing I learned how to sift through mail, or else this would've been taken into the incinerator."

The other Beatles nodded their heads, staring at the three piles of mail in front of them. One was full of fan mail, one was junk mail, and the rest was CLEF stuff. CLEF—otherwise known as Clearing Life's Evil Felons—was the special spy agency that the Beatles worked under. On the surface, they were the famous Beatles. Beneath the surface, they were secret agents. They survived their first mission after going through explosions, fan girls and the 'clean mixer' of Paul's grandfather, and ended it with a concert to the fans. It was an exhilarating experience, and no one was the wiser.

"It also says to go alone." said Paul, noticing the letter. "I don't know...will we be mobbed in Mexico?"

"We've been mobbed almost every place we've been at." said George. "Even at the grocery store to get jelly babies..."

"Which you had to blab about, remember?" asked John, recalling a time that the four were pelted by jelly babies at a concert. The small candies would hit them in the eye while they continued to play and it was to the point that John nearly choked on one when a jelly baby was thrown into his mouth.

"Sorry..." George replied. "At least they changed their menu and gave us stuff like..."

"Cream puffs, sandwiches, scones, packets of tea, chocolates, loaves of bread...the list goes on and on." Ringo stated. "On the bright side, this was all mailed from the most pristine bakeries in town."

"Food aside, what do you say gang?" asked John. "Ready for a vacation?"

"Anything to get away from this fog." said Paul. "If what the brochure says is true, it'll be sunny days, warm beaches, and...whatever we're going to do for that festival."

"They even gave us plane tickets!" said George, pulling out the tickets from an envelope. "They love us!"

"Pack your bags then!" said John. "Mexico awaits us!"

Lovely Rita sighed, sipping her coffee. Five weeks had passed since the TV Theater incident and it had been too quiet. Keeping an eye on the Beatles, she noticed that they had improved their spy skills while balancing out fan mail, recording sessions and concerts. Even the most trained of agents would've died from the pressure, but the four made it with ease.

A thought worried her though—the personalities of them as agents were clashing with the real personalities with the Beatles. John was becoming more sadistic with the dummies he used for his torture methods. Paul began to practice his wooing methods before poisoning them, George's Savoy Truffle recipes were becoming deadlier and even shy Ringo has used his personality to fool victims. It came to a blow in a recent case of a drug ring: the only clues that pointed to the Beatles causing the damage was the bottles of vodka littered in the building, and a noose made from a black necktie.

So, she asked the council members of CLEF to let the four take a vacation to sort out their 'personal' problems. They unanimously agreed—a shock since it was rare for the council to all agree on a particular subject—and bought the tickets for the Beatles' trip to Mexico. Hopefully, this would straighten things out.

"Lovely Rita," said a deep voice. The secretary looked up to see Maxwell handing her a file.

"What is it?" asked Rita. "I have no time for this."

"It's about the Beatles." said Maxwell. "Lady Madonna has sent us some notes about the trip to Mexico."

Lovely Rita nearly spat out her coffee; Lady Madonna was one of the agency's best female agents. If Lady Madonna had something to say about the trip...

Lovely Rita set her coffee mug down before taking the file into her hands. Opening it, she soon found the information regarding the trip. Her eyes widened in fear as her hands began to tremble.

"Maxwell," said Rita in a soft voice. "Tell Lady Madonna to gain any other material about what's going on to the higher ups; we best hope that those four don't get into trouble....after all, they are famous.

"If what these documents say are true, we shall be in for serious trouble."

Night fell upon the Beatles abode. Each of them were asleep in their own beds, dreaming about the fun they would have in the heart of Mexico.

Okay, not everyone was asleep. John was reading up on the Mexican Day of the Dead from the brochures, hoping to see what was to be expected. It wasn't unlike him to be reading anything other what he considered 'good material'...but CLEF taught him that reading is a skill that can make a difference between a successful spy and a dead spy. So far, there was talk about skeletons, coffins and all sorts of Halloween secrets.

Taking another brochure in hand, John read some of the history of the  Day of the Dead; celebrated since Aztec times, the Mexicans expanded on the simple idea and made it a worldwide phenomenon. Hopefully it would be a quiet affair that evening.

John soon stifled a yawn as he reached a page called 'The Skeleton Key'. He soon began to read in interest.

"This is interesting..." He murmured. "Better tell the boys when I wake up tomorrow."
This story was inspired by a chat i had a few days ago with :iconcherry-blossom-fan:. She suggested I'd do a story with the Beatles and dedicated this story to her (along with another I'm doing later). This is not a Halloween story, btw.

So, hope everyone loves it!
